When I saw The Fall back in 2008, I was immediately mesmerized by the gorgeous cinematography and beautiful locations. I absolutely love to travel and try to do it as often as my bank account allows. Watching this movie was incredibly inspiring (I kept saying "I want to go there, and I want to go there...") so I made a game of trying to figure out all the filming locations. As noted in the captions for some of the screen captures, I'm still missing several locations so if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Thank you for your efforts. What a thrilling film. One place I recognized was Gunung Kawi, Bali, where the kecak dance was filmed.
    Enjoy.

  2. wow, fantastic. I know towards the end of the film there was filming in the Al Hambra in spain and one more location is spain that I Know ive visited but for the life of me i cannot remember, Im searching for it as I type. Its where the ex slave gets some hardcore acupuncture! I think when Darwin walks across the roof of a greenhouse that might be Kew Gardens in London but Im not 100% sure. Good luck!

  3. What a great idea! I feel in love with the visuals of The Fall while watching it. I don't think that I've ever seen such a beautiful movie. No movie has ever needed to be on BluRay more than this one.

You're so lucky to have gotten to see so many wonderful places. Happy travels!

  4. The Japanese website for The Fall [http://www.rakka-movie.com/] has a section called 'Location' with a fantastic map pointing out filming locations. My Japanese is not that good, so I couldn't get much from the lenghty texts. If someone is willing to translate that, I think it would be a major addition to our knowledge ;)
    Cheers

  5. Thanks everyone! I'm thrilled to hear all the positive feedback and it's nice to know I'm not the only one obsessed with the filming locations!

It's been a while since I started this effort but I'm still trying to find every single location. I get a lot of people swearing they know one of my missing locations but sometimes they're wrong. I try my hardest to verify every lead before actually including it - I have some Indian friends who have been especially helpful in keeping this honest.

I'm having so much fun figuring this out - it's like a game!

  9. Gentlemen, the locations indicated in Bolivia, were recorded in Chile, in the Salar of Atacama. Look at the credits, is mentioned only to Chile.

  21. You might wanna add some of the scenes inside Fatehpur Sikri (UP, India). The scene where Luigi blows himself up is one for sure, and there are others. The intact building looks better than the blown up version ;)

  22. Excellent work to put this up, thank you.

That contrast of orange dunes and blue sky in the Namib desert stands out for me, but the whole film is full of locations and cinematography that are inspired, and inspiring.

  23. You have done an amazing job ! You might also want to capture a scene where they show a blue city from the top of a fort which is Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India and the final scenes which are shot in the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.

    Again.. remarkable job !
